Product recall: chest of drawers
After South Shore received two injury reports – one child had bruised and scratched legs while the other child died – the product was recalled because the chests were deemed unstable unless they are anchored to the wall. Without anchoring there is a serious risk of tipping over and entrapping a small child that can lead to death or serious injury.
What should you do if you have the recalled product in your home?
Anyone with this recalled product should immediately stop using it and take it away from areas that children can access it unless it is anchored to the wall. Consumer are asked to contact South Shore at 855-215-4932 to choose between a full refund and free pick-up of the chest, removing the drawer slides and receiving packaging and a prepaid shipping label to return the drawer slides for a full refund or to request a free tip-over restraint kit and free in-home installation of the kit.
Product liability law
Defective and dangerous products cause thousands of injuries every year. If your child was injured by a defective product, contact a product liability attorney today; he or she may be able to help you recover damages for your injury.
In successful product liability cases, a product manufacturer, distributor or seller is held liable for the injuries caused by the defective or dangerous product. Product liability laws vary by state but generally require that a product meet ordinary consumer expectations that a product be free of defects or dangers. When a product fails to meet this threshold, it could end up as part of a product liability lawsuit.
