The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) issues approximately 300 product recalls each year for products that pose a risk to consumers. In many cases, recalls are issued after consumers, regulators or manufacturers discover safety issues that are causing or could cause injury or damage. Earlier this week, several Cos0ri air fryers were the latest products to endure a product recall.
First introduced in 2010, the air fryer has become one of the most popular kitchen gadgets on the market. They are time-saving “ovens” that use rapid hot air technology to cook food faster, with no preheating required. It’s also easier to “fry” foods with little or no oil, which is popular for people looking to decrease fats in their diet. At this point, there are several brands on the market, but Cosori is having a bad week after they had to recall 2 million air fryers due to reports of their appliances catching fire.
Product Recall: 2 million Air Fryers Recalled Due to Fire and Burn Hazard
As reported by yahoo.com and several other news sources, two million Cosori brand air fryers have been recalled after hundreds of complaints were received by users about their appliance catching fire. On February 23, the CPSC published a notice for several models of Cosori Air Fryers due to a fire and burn hazard. The hazard is caused by a wire connection in the air fryers that can overheat, creating a risk of fire and burns.
Cos0ri has received 205 reports of their air fryers catching fire, burning, melting, overheating and smoking. Out of the 205 incidences, 10 people have reported minor, superficial burn injuries and 23 people have reported minor property damage.
The recall affects several model numbers sold across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico between June, 2018 and December, 2022. Please look for your Cosori air fryer model number on the bottom label of your unit.

If your unit is on this list, Cosori is asking that you stop using the air fryer immediately, unplug it from its electrical source, and cut off the power cord. Product liability law
Defective and dangerous products cause thousands of injuries every year. If you or a loved one was injured by a defective product, contact a product liability attorney today. A skilled defective products lawyer may be able to help you recover damages for your injury.
In product liability cases that recover damages, a product manufacturer, distributor or seller is held liable for the injuries caused by the defective or dangerous product. Product liability laws vary by state but generally require that a product meet ordinary consumer expectations that a product be free of defects or dangers. When a product fails to meet this threshold, the negligent parties could end up on the receiving end of a product liability lawsuit.
