2018 Car and Booster Seat Recall Updates Released

On November 23, 2018, The National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration updated information for multiple existing recalls of booster and child car seats, affecting thousands of products from different manufacturers.

Graco Children’s Products Inc. recall:

Graco is recalling some of its line of My Ride 65 convertible child restraints (25,494 seats total) because “in the event of a crash, the child seat webbing may not adequately restrain the child.”

The following models are affected by the recall: 1871689, 1908152, 1813074, 1872691, 1853478, 1877535, 1813015, and 1794334.

Graco will be notifying owners and issuing a free replacement harness. Call Graco customer service at 1-800-345-4109 with any questions.

Britax Child Safety, Inc. recall:

Britax Child Safety, Inc., is recalling several models of car seats that have a center tab on the chest clip labeled “ABS” that may break and become a choking hazard to the child. The affected models include the B-Safe 35, B-Safe 35 Travel Systems, B-Safe 35 Elite, B-Safe 35 Elite Travel Systems and BOB B-Safe rear-facing infant child safety seats.

The company is providing replacement chest clips labeled “PC” free of charge to the owners of 207,037 child seats. Contact Britax at 1-833-474-7016 or visit the website to request your replacement part.

Diono recall:

Diono (formerly SUNSHINE KIDS JUVENILE) is recalling 519,052 convertible and booster car seats that have “an increased risk of a chest injured in the event of a crash” when the seat is used with a lap belt.

The recalled models were manufactured between Nov. 25, 2013, and Sept. 5, 2017 and include certain Radian R100, Radian R120, Radian RXT, Olympia, Pacifica and Rainier convertible and booster car seats.

Harmony Juvenile Products recall:
Harmony Juvenile Products is recalling 148,165 Big Boost Deluxe booster seats that “in the event of a crash, the seat belt may cause excessive force to be applied to the restrained child’s chest.”

A solution to the problem is being worked out; a notice will be sent out once a resolution is found. Call Harmony customer service at 1-877-306-1001 with any questions.
